Hi, I’m the Appia Antica Caffè.

Probably, where I am today, there was a post house since the construction of the Appia Antica, in 312 BC.

There was probably also the ancestor of the olive tree that shades my tables, overlooking the ancient Roman basolato.

Instead of horses you will find bicycles to start a journey along the story, passing through Capo di Bove and its museum, or going to the suggestive Cecilia Metella’s Mausoleum and Massenzio’s Villa, all a few hundred meters from my position, who is considered by tens of tourist guides, magazines, newspapers and television programs unique in the world … and that also attracted the great cinema’s attention.

And I’ve not only a sun-kissed space on the front: behind there I have a large shady garden, scattered with big and small tables, where you can enjoy a energising breakfast, a tasty snack, a quick lunch, a unique aperitif and (almost) everything you can think.

I’m waiting for you, with the smile of my staff and the desire to share with you the enchantment of the Appia Antica, Regina Viarum.

Sitting in the garden or at the tables overlooking the basolato, you can enjoy from coffee to an aperitif, or a cool craft beer (ah, the Italian artisanal ones, bottled and on tap...).
At my place you will find typical genuine cuisine, as well as a rich assortment of gastronomy - perfect for a quick lunch, and you can enjoy sweetness in all its variety (cookies, cakes, ice cream, truffles...)
And all this you can enjoy comfortably seated at my tables, or take away to eat wherever you like.

Not to brag, but I am a great starting point for visiting the Appia Antica Park, because you can avoid the traffic in the center by leaving your car in my parking lot or by using public transportation. If you want some time to relax after your walk, my garden awaits you with a variety of delicacies.

The bike rental business is open daily, with hours from 9 a.m. to dusk (except Mondays, which are closed).

My staff can provide you with information on transportation, archaeological sites, or anything else (much, but not everything).

School group tours

I organize tours in the Appia Antica park in collaboration with…………….

either with guides (in various languages) by bicycle or on foot.

There are services at special prices designed especially for school and groups.

My garden is ready to welcome you if you want to organize a graduation party, birthday party, wedding party, corporate party or for the arrival of spring–in short, any excuse is good.

You can choose between table service or a sumptuous buffet that, thanks to the vast assortment of plant-based dishes, is also suitable for vegan and vegetarian guests.

Your party will be held in secluded corners or, upon request, throughout the garden.

For your children’s parties you can have a part of the garden at your disposal (in the afternoon only).

My staff members are at your disposal to organize a memorable party.

How to reach us

The buses:
– 660 from the Metro A Arco di Travertino stop to the terminus in front of the bar;
– 765 from the subway A Arco di Travertino stop to via di Tor Carbone then 2 km on foot towards the centre;
– 118 from Piazza Venezia. The extraordinary route crosses the archaeological area of ​​the Imperial Forums, the Colosseum, the Circus Maximus, the Baths of Caracalla and a long stretch of the Via Appia Antica and stops about 200 meters from us, at the Appia Pignatelli / Almone stop.
